Artist's Description

One of the very first large format film photographs I made. I used a Kodak Masterview 4x5 camera with 22-inch long bellows. I stopped the lens down to f/64 and left the shutter open for 9 minutes. I was using cut paper as my negative. This is the negative of the flatbed scan of that paper negative.

After growing up in a somewhat rural area I decided a change of scenery was in order, so I moved to New York City where I studied photography. My professional career didn't begin until after college, where I worked photographing architecture and construction sites as well as the occasional portrait. I've always been interested in telling stories whether it's the story of a place, a person or simply describing a moment.
