A double exposure which resulting in a simple optical illusion that causes the foreground and background features to undulate and change positions. This was an exercise in creating "Static Movement," a term of contradictions and a phenomenon where an undeniably still image or object causes intentional movement and an unresting optical composition.
About Stephen Russell Shilling
"[...] sensitive, classical photography. The images seem to have been steeped in sentimentalism." I was born in Southern New Jersey on the edge of the Pine Barrens. After growing up in a somewhat rural area I decided a change of scenery was in order, so I moved to New York City where I studied photography.
