Description
I once heard that one of the greatest tools a photographer has at their disposal is the turn-around. When you are driving along and you see something that you think you want to make a picture of...that's when you turn around. You don't just drive right past it. You'll be haunted by the images that could have been. The same power lies in the "stop" tool as well. In this instance, while Jess and I were driving in Utah from Oakley out to Moab, we were caught in, well, several small snowstorms. The snow was very thick, and the road was an elevated, slippery, windy road with the occasional drop-off and a lake below. There were not too many places to stop, but there also were not many other cars on the road. I pulled off when I could and walked back a bit. By the time I did I could hardly see the mountain. I thought it would be pointless to even make the picture. I'm pleased with the results though. I like that the mountain has this eerie radiating presence.
